The Benefit of Oats

There are so many contradicting studies about OATS. ✨

Here’s my opinion on them: I LOVE ❤️ OATS. I eat them every breakfast and I look forward to them. They also keep me FULL for at least 7 hours, they give me energy and because I add cacao, maca; all my other superfoods and berries to them; they taste AMAZING. Plus, I make them to benefit my hormone health. I also recently added @adaptogenic_apothecary Harmony powder to the mix for pre-menopause.

There is so much you can do with oats. Let’s take a look at the benefits:

Oats contain B vitamins and also supply important minerals (especially calcium and iron) and trace elements such as selenium. Important for the thyroid.

Eating oats helps to protect the skin from UV damage, partly due to the selenium content and partly due to the presence of an antioxidant amino acid called ergothioneine (EGT).

EGT is unable to pass through the membrane of most body cells, but skin cells have recently been found to express a special EGT receptor.

This allows EGT to accumulate in the skin, where it provides protection against the damaging effects of UV light, reducing the resulting level of sunburn and cell death.

This breakfast staple is 100% wholegrain and absolutely brilliant for keeping energy sustained throughout the morning.

'They also contain a type of fibre called beta-glucan, which has been found to help lower cholesterol levels & is anti-cancer.

As they are SOLUBLE FIBRE, you are helping to grow your prebiotic fibre in the gut.

Be careful though, avoid processed oats in the supermarkets. They spike insulin and can make you feel more hungry.

Look for whole grain, organic and gluten free. Oats are gluten free but they can become contaminated with other grains in the process.

Some people say oats irritate them, others don’t. You do what’s best for you. Just make sure you buy a good bag that’s not processed. ✨
